Programme structure

The Bachelor of Communication takes three years to complete if you're studying full time. Most students will take 24 courses overall (each course being worth 15 points), with 8 courses per year.

 

When you start the programme, you will choose one of three majors:

 

• Communication and Social Change
• Communication and Technology
• Communication in Leadership

 

In your first year, you will complete the first two courses of your major, alongside core courses in communication. Over the course of your degree you will also take three courses in an additional focused area of study (a module), up to two elective courses and two General Education courses. Twelve courses (or 180 points) of your degree must be above Stage I level.

 

Overall programme structure:

 

• Eight core Communication courses (120 points)
• At least nine courses from your chosen major (including three major-specific core courses) (135 points)
• Two General Education courses (30 points)
• Three courses in a focused area of study (module) (45 points)
• Up to two elective courses (30 points)

 

You can also study the BC alongside another degree through a conjoint programme. Conjoint options for the BC include: Arts, Commerce, Engineering, Fine Arts, Global Studies, Health Science, Law, Law (Hons), Science, and Advanced Science.

You need to have one of the following:
 

• 12 years of schooling and an overall average of 75 percent in the All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSC), Indian School Certificate (ISC), Karnataka, Maharashtra and West Bengal State Board Examinations with a minimum of 70 percent in English.
• 12 years of schooling and an overall average of 80 percent in all other Higher Secondary State Board Examinations with a minimum of 75 percent in English.

These are the grades required for guaranteed entry to this programme. If your grades are slightly lower, we encourage you to still apply. We will consider your application if places are available.

Fees are set in advance of each calendar year and will be updated on this website. Fees are inclusive of 15% GST, but do not include the Student Services Fee, course books, travel and health insurance, or living costs. Amounts shown are indicative only. In addition to the tuition fees, there is a Student Services Fee of $8.16 per point, estimated at $979.20 for full-time study (120 points). Fees will be confirmed upon completion of enrolment into courses.
