Program Overview

Architecture focuses on the relationship between people and their environments. Study architecture at AUT and gain an understanding of the critical, ethical, aesthetic, social cultural and technological components of architecture and the design of sustainable future environments.

You’ll develop a critical approach to architectural design, become familiar with architectural history and contemporary architecture practice, and learn to apply Te Aranga Māori design principles to your work.

- ARCH801 Wānanga Design Studio: Resolution
- ARCH802 Architectural Practice I: Histories and Theories of Practice
- CTEC810 Transdisciplinary Research Methods
- ARCH804 Architectural Practice III: Project Delivery
- ARCH805 Architectural Practice IV: Business and Entrepreneurship
And complete 30 points from:
- ARCH810 Advanced Topics in Architecture AND
- Any other postgraduate course as approved by the programme leader

Minimum entry requirements

Must have completed the Bachelor of Architecture and Future Environments or equivalent with a B grade average or higher in courses at level 7; or equivalent

English language requirements

IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with all bands 6.0 or higher; or equivalent.

Career Prospect
The Master of Architecture (Professional) has been designed to meet the academic accreditation requirements for registration as an architect in New Zealand. Subject to accreditation by the Australian and New Zealand Architecture Program Accreditation Procedure (ANZ APAP) and an approved period of practical experience, graduates will be eligible to take the professional practice interview to become registered architects.
