About

Auckland University of Technology (AUT) is a publicly owned higher education and research institution that was founded in 2000. The Auckland Technical School, founded in 1895, aims to provide students with evening classes. The institution changed its name to Auckland Technical College and began offering daytime classes. The institution was granted university status in 2000 and thus got its current name. It is a member of the Association of Asia Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS), the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), and the Consejo Latinoamericano de Escuelas de Administracion(CLADEA).

 

The Auckland University of Technology has five faculties, which are further subdivided into 17 schools. Over 250 programmes are available at the university, including art, design, economics, science, business, education, communication studies, languages, psychology, engineering, mathematics, computer science, clinical studies, creative technologies, nursing, tourism and hospitality, law, social science, public health, and sports.

 

Auckland University of Technology is a diverse community of 29,250 students and 3,400 staff members, including 195 professors and assistant professors. At the university, 994 students are pursuing doctoral degrees. The university has approximately 5,600 international students, accounting for approximately 19% of the total student population. AUT has over 60 research centres and institutes, allowing the university to collaborate locally and globally while also providing excellent opportunities for postgraduate students.

 

The university has three campuses Auckland Central (City Campus), Northcote (North Campus), and Manukau (Manukau Campus) (South Campus). The south campus is in Manukau, the north campus is on Auckland's north shore, and the city campus is in the city centre. The north campus offers courses in education, health, and sports, while the city campus houses engineering, computer, and mathematical sciences schools.

Facilities

The AUT campuses have excellent learning facilities, administrative offices, recreational facilities, and residence halls. It provides students with free counselling sessions and mental health support services from expert mental health advisors. The campuses are filled with spaces for interaction and discussion, as well as all of the necessary facilities such as libraries, computer suites with 24-hour access, lecture theatres, laboratories, and various studios. Housing Services: Accommodation facility is available at each of Auckland University of Technology's three campuses. Two types of accommodation are available at the city campus since it’s the largest campus. All of the accommodations include amenities such as wifi, a shared lounge, a dining area, and fully furnished apartments and rooms.

 

ICT Services: Computers, networks, internet, printers, and other ICT services can be assisted by the ICT Service Desk.

 

Medical Services: AUT's City and North campuses both have medical centres for students. These facilities are staffed by doctors and nurses who offer a variety of medical services. The South Campus only provides nursing services. Domestic students who enrol with the university as their primary healthcare provider receive free routine appointments.

 

Sports Facilities: The university’s three gyms (City, North, and South campuses) provide modern equipment as well as a wide variety of group exercise classes and access to other sports and fitness services.
