Objectives of the Programme
 

The objectives of the programme are to:

• Develop skills needed to produce creative media, art and design within the context of digital cultures
• Equip students to reflect upon and analyse the processes, policies and challenges faced within digital art, design and cultures, with potential to engage in the areas of literature, drama, film, the visual arts, and music.
• Enhance students’ skills in research, communication, and innovative thinking.
   

Learning Outcomes for the Programme
 

On the successful completion of this programme students will be able to:

• Produce creative media and art using digital technologies
• Critique key concepts and debates relating to digital art, design and cultures
•  Employ a range of skills in the areas of individual project development and management, creative development and planning, art and design research methods, public presentation, promotion, leadership
•  Understand and implement working structures, processes and policies relating to digital art, design and cultures
•  Plan, develop and complete an independent practice-as-research project or traditional dissertation in an area of digital art, design and cultures.

Applicants will require a NQAI Level 8-degree, Second Class Honours, or equivalent, with a 2:1 in a related subject. IELTS of 6.5 (including no less than 5.5 in any one component) or TOEFL 88 or Pearson PTE 61 or equivalent. Where applicants do not meet the formal academic requirements, they can apply for entry through the University’s Recognition for Prior Learning Policy.  Selection is based on a candidate’s academic record.

Career pathways include multimedia production and content creation; careers in media innovation and entrepreneurship; cultural heritage and education; digital and communication technologies skills in other industries.
