Program Overview

The LLM in International Business Law is a masters degree offered by Maynooth University School of Law and Criminology. The programme will enable law graduates to further their legal education by gaining a systematic understanding of the critical issues at the forefront of select areas of international business law. The programme also aims to develop legal research, reasoning, writing, advocacy, and teamwork skills, which are highly sought after by employers.

Certain modules on the programme are run in partnership with leading law firms, offering students the opportunity to apply for work placements at the end of their studies.

Course Content
Students must complete 90 credits in total, taking 35 taught credits in semester 1 and 30 taught credits in semester 2. Students must complete a 25-credit dissertation during the summer.

Students are required to complete modules in International Law on Foreign Investment, Capital Markets Law, and Professional Development, and then have the opportunity to choose from a wide range of optional modules. Please note that some modules will have prerequisites attached to them.

Students also have the option of graduating with a Postgraduate Diploma instead of an LLM. The structure of the Postgraduate Diploma follows that of the LLM’s structure, but students do not complete a dissertation.
Entry Requirement
Bachelor Degree (4 years):
Minimum of 60% overall for a 2H2 award.
Minimum of 65% overall for a 2H1 award.
Minimum of 75% overall for a 1H award.

Special Consideration for 3-year bachelor degrees:

Will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Applicants must have completed research, a capstone project, a thesis, or an equivalent.

Special Consideration for Applicants from specific universities (Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Calcutta):

May be considered with a minimum of 55% overall for a 2H2 award.
May be considered with a minimum of 60% overall for a 2H1 award.
May be considered with a minimum of 70% overall for a 1H award.
