About
Located in the capital city of Ireland, IBAT College Dublin is a private for-profit institution of higher education. Shane Ormsby who was the principal shareholder founded the college in the year 2004 when he also served as director. Initially, the campus was located on Forster Way in the Swords area of north Dublin and the college went by the name of the Institute of Business and Technology. The college received programme validation from the Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC) in 2006. The college name was briefly changed to IBAT College Swords in 2009. It was changed to its current name in 2011 when its campus was relocated to Temple Bar in the heart of Dublin. The college was acquired by the Global University Systems group in 2016 which is a private third-level education group with a presence in over 60 countries.
IBAT offers a select few courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels along with offering professional diplomas, financial trading courses, English language courses and corporate training programmes. Its subject areas include business administration, management, data analytics, cybersecurity, arts, finance, and graphic design. The college has partnerships and initiatives with a range of global key players including the Project Management Institute, the Accreditation and Coordination of English Language Services (ACELS), the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Tableau, CompTIA, AWS Educate, the Digital Marketing Institute, and the London Academy of Training. The English School at the college is a member of the Marketing English in Ireland Association (MEI).
As of 2021, the college housed 1500 students across its programmes. The students hail from over 45 different countries across Europe and the rest of the world. Since the college offers highly tailored programmes and courses, it adheres to a strict admissions policy making it a fairly competitive institute to get into. Facilities
The new campus of the college located at Temple Bar in Dublin is a purpose-built one which is tailored to teach the programmes the college offers and meet the needs of the students studying there. The IBAT College Dublin facilities are modern, newly built and ideal for the students enrolled there.
Some of the provisions include the following.
- Four IT labs that are designed for courses such as Data Analytics, Desktop Publishing and Programming. Students can access these facilities using the IBAT College Dublin Learning Portal. These labs are equipped with the latest hardware and software.
- There are two campus libraries that house print texts, e-journals, e-books and online databases as part of their print and digital resources. To help students further, they also conduct Information Literacy Workshops.
- Other recreational spaces include canteens and breakout rooms to help socialise and take a break from the daily routine.

IBAT College Dublin Entry Requirements
The IBAT College Dublin entry requirements vary for their undergraduate and postgraduate programmes while there are none in place to apply for their professional diplomas and other certificate courses. Undergraduate Admissions
- For their undergraduate programme in Arts, two H5 and four O6/H7 grades are required in the Irish Leaving Certificate. For overseas students, the qualifications are determined by QQI standards. The NARIC Qualifications Recognition system is used to establish equivalency.
- A minimum of grade O6/H7 is required for five leaving certificate subjects including English and Mathematics. For overseas equivalent qualifications, the corresponding QQI standards must be met.
- For English language qualifications, an overall band score of 6.0 is required in the IELTS exam.
Postgraduate Admissions
- A minimum 2.2 honours degree or an appropriate recognised qualification by international metrics is required for admission to their full-time MBA programme.
- Even relevant work experience in the field is accepted.
- An overall band score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in all components is required in the IELTS exam.
