Douglas College Entry Requirements

To get admission at Douglas College, students need to meet the following eligibility requirements:

 

Undergraduate (diploma, certificate, associate and bachelor degree) programmes

  • High school graduation OR 19 years of age by the end of the first month of studies in the semester of entry to Douglas College
  • Minimum overall grade average of  60% or equivalent in the final year of high school
  • A minimum final grade of “C” or 60% in Grade 11 Mathematics or equivalent for most programmes
  • Proof of English Proficiency
  • Valid passport
  • Academic transcripts

 

Post-degree and post-baccalaureate programmes

  • Graduation from a recognized degree-granting post-secondary institution with a minimum 3-year bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum cumulative grade average of “C” or 60% or equivalent during the bachelor’s degree programme
  • Proof of English Proficiency
  • Valid passport
  • Academic transcripts

 

Some programmes may also require submission of a portfolio, audition and volunteering experience.

Douglas College English Proficiency Requirements

You are required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language before admission to Douglas College. You can do so by providing proof of one of the following (other factors may also be considered):

 

  • B.C. high school English 12: Minimum grade C.
  • TOEFL: IBT with a minimum score of 83 (21 in writing for Post-Degree and Post-Baccalaureate programmes)
  • TOEFL Essentials: Minimum score of 9 (no score below 8 on any individual section).
  • IELTS (Academic Module): Minimum overall score of 6.5. For post-degree and post-baccalaureate diploma programmes, a minimum score of 6.0 for each band.
  • Duolingo: Minimum score of 110
  • PTE: Minimum score of 56

 

Students should also note that the official test scores have a validity period of 2 years from the date the test was written.
