Program Overview
A Master of Education (Special Education) prepares you to support individuals with a range of special educational needs in mainstream classrooms. This course highlights three distinct streams: Autism, Mental Health and Learning. These address the challenges and issues faced by mainstream teachers in mainstream educational practice and fills a much-needed gap in professional development for teachers in the field.
The autism stream provides you with advanced skills in supporting people with autism; the mental health stream focuses on mental wellbeing, with an emphasis on anxiety, depression and eating disorders; and the learning stream provides you with the experience to support people with a range of learning needs. This is not an accredited Australian Initial Teacher Education course and therefore does not qualify the student to teach in Australia.
