Program Overview

The Department now offers an accelerated BA/MFA program that allows high-achieving students to complete a BA degree in English (Writing Concentration) and an MFA in Creative & Professional Writing in five years. Designed to hone essential creative writing skills and nourish talent in poetry, fiction, nonfiction, professional writing and more, the program prepares students for real-world work in teaching, writing, editing, and publishing.

Entry Requirement
- Your academic records from all high schools or secondary schools attended, including diplomas if you have completed high school or secondary school. If your transcripts, diploma or any other academic documents are not in English, you must include a notarized English translation. Be sure include any exam scores such as IB, AP, iGCSE/A-Levels, CSEC, WAEC, NECO or CAPE.
- Personal Statement/Essay and Resume/List of Extracurricular Activities
- Official SAT or ACT test scores are optional
- Two letters of recommendation attesting to your writing skills
- A ten-page Writing Sample (double-spaced) in the genre you intend to pursue
- A Statement of Purpose addressing your writing interests, reading influences, and career-related goals (approximately 750-1000 words).
