Valdosta State University (VSU) is a public university located in Valdosta, Georgia, United States. The university was founded in 1906 and is part of the University System of Georgia.

In the fall semester of 2022, 11,573 students were enrolled in its six colleges and 30 academic departments. Moreover, it has an acceptance rate of 78%. These six colleges and schools are:

The university competes in the NCAA Division II and is a member of the Gulf South Conference. Facilities

The VSU campus is split into two locations: the main campus and the north campus. The main campus comprises many academic and administrative departments and is known for the Spanish Mission architecture theme that pervades every building. The Valdosta campus is well-equipped with a variety of amenities and services. For overseas students, the university provides on-campus housing, a library, restaurants, and other amenities. It also has over 200 student groups, entertainment, and health services. 

 

Residence facilities - The institution provides on-campus accommodation in the United States through 17 residence halls. Students can live in traditional-style, suit-style, or apartment-style lodging. Through the housing application portal, students can apply for on-campus accommodation. The residential halls here are Brown Hall, 2-bedroom Centennial Hall, 4-bedroom Centennial Hall, Georgia Hall, Semi-private Hopper Hall, Private Hopper Hall, and Traditional Peterson Hall. Approximately 90% of the enrolled students live on the campus itself. 

 

Library - The Gertrude Gilmer Odum Library was constructed in 1971. It functions as the university’s main library. A 24-hour Internet Cafe, the GALILEO Technology Centre, electronic classrooms, an auditorium, an enlarged Media Center, climate-controlled Archives, latest study areas, and increased bookshelves are among the addition's distinguishing characteristics. The library has 453,757 bound books, about 3,000 current magazines and newspapers, and a microform collection with over a million units.  

 

Cafeterias - There are mainly two dining halls on-campus which cater to students, staff and faculty’s nutritional needs. Blazer Sports Grille provides a buffet-style food experience. Special dietary concessions and requests can be made to meet the needs of student’s preference. It can seat up to 100 people and is located in the Hopper Hall on the main campus.  Palms Meal Hall provides a buffet-style dining experience for more than 100 people and you can find it on the main campus, just a short walk from the dorms.
