About

Utica College is a private, independent college located in Utica, New York, United States. It was founded in 1946 as Utica College of Syracuse University and became fully independent in 1995. Fall 2022, saw a total enrollment of 3,861 students on-campus. The university's history may be traced back to the 1930s when Syracuse University started providing extension courses in the Utica area. In 1946, Syracuse University established itself as a four-year college. It was known as Utica College of Syracuse University in those times. It officially became a financially and legally independent university in 1995, functioning as Utica College without the association of Syracuse University.

 

The college offers undergraduate and graduate programmes in a variety of fields, including business, cybersecurity, health sciences, nursing, education, criminal justice, and psychology. It is particularly well-known for its programmes in cybersecurity and economic crime investigation and has been designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. It has 31 minors and 21 graduate degree programmes and a doctorate degree.

Facilities

The college is spread out over a lovely 128-acre property. It is nicely constructed with grass and green spaces, flower beds lined walks, and ornamental plantings. The Romano Hall, the Economic Crime, Justice Studies, and Cyber-security Building, the Professor Ray Simon Convergence Media Centre, and health clubs are some of the buildings where facilities available to students. Also on campus, there are more than 100 student organisations and clubs. 

 

Residence facilities - For interested candidates, the college's campus has on-campus residential facilities. There are roughly seven residence halls and a village that provide living accommodations for students. For the first two academic years, the majority of first-year students are required to live in college residence halls as it is a mandate. The residence halls offer amenities including comfortable rooms with free campus-wide Wi-Fi, laundry service, and access to the Clark Athletic Center, Kunath Fitness Center, and Utica College indoor pool.  

 

Athletic facilities - Football, lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, and intramural sports are all played in the Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The stadium has 1,200 seats, stadium lighting for night games, and a synthetic turf surface. The University's new Track & Field Complex is next to Gaetano Stadium. The synthetic turf facility features an eight-lane outdoor track, a multi-sport practice field, a digital scoreboard, and NCAA-compliant lighting. 

 

Library - The Frank E. Gannett Memorial Library is the main library for students, staff and faculty. The library has many computer workstations, individual study rooms, private group study spaces, and quiet study sections on the top floor. It also contains the Writing Center and the Math and Science Centre of the University.
