About

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside (UW-Parkside) is a public university located in Somers, Wisconsin, United States. It was established in 1968 and is part of the University of Wisconsin System. The foundation started on 2 September 1965, when the Wisconsin State Legislature enacted Senate Bill 48, which ordered the development of new postsecondary institutions in northeastern Wisconsin and the Kenosha-Racine area "as soon as practical".

 

There are 33 undergraduate majors and 11 master’s degrees. They also provide associate degrees in Arts and Science, Financial Economics, Green Chemistry and many more. The undergraduate and graduate level programmes are offered through the four colleges here which happen to be: 

  • The College of Arts and Humanities
  • The College of Social Sciences and Professional Studies
  • The College of Business, Economics, and Computing
  • The College of Natural and Health Sciences

The university campus consists of 15 buildings, including a magnificent library. "The Bridge" connects the buildings. Campus Connect provides students with information about the campus. The school has counselling services such as the Student Health and Counseling Centre, fitness and wellness facilities, and an emergency police service. There are numerous student organisations on campus. Black Student Union, Habitat for Humanity, Criminal Justice Association, and Peer Health Educators are a few examples. Residential Facilities - The three residence halls in which the student population reside are - Ranger Hall, University Apartments, and Pike River Suites. Traditional Ranger Halls, four-bed University Apartments, and two to three-roomed Park River Suites are available as residence halls. Library - The University of Wisconsin-Parkside library is called the Rita Tallent Picken Regional Centre for Arts and Humanities. It is located in the heart of the campus and serves as a central resource for students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community. The library provides access to print and electronic resources, including books, journals, databases, and multimedia materials. It also houses special collections, such as the Wisconsin Collection, which contains materials related to the history and culture of Wisconsin, and the Archives and Area Research Centre, which contains primary source materials related to the history of Southeastern Wisconsin.
