The University of Saint Mary (USM) is a private liberal arts university located in Leavenworth, Kansas, United States. It is sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth and was founded in 1859 as a women's school. It became coeducational in 1923 and received university status in 2003. USM offers more than 30 undergraduate, 8 graduate and 1 doctoral programme. The university has two main campuses: the main campus in Leavenworth which primarily houses undergraduate students

 

USM is home to more than 1,200 students from 33 different states and 8 different countries. The university has a student-faculty ratio of 11:1 and maintains a diverse student body, with 47% male and 53% female students. The university’s athletics teams are known as the Spires. The university offers a variety of sports, including basketball, baseball, volleyball, football, softball, wrestling and soccer.

 

USM has a strong alumni base, including people who are now working with leading organizations. Some of the university's notable alumni include Scott Frear (football coach) and Lance Hinson (football coach).
