About

The University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, also known as UPRM, is a public research university located in the city of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. It is the second-largest university in the University of Puerto Rico System and is considered one of the top engineering schools in the Caribbean.

 

UPRM was founded in 1911 as the Agricultural Experiment Station and later became the College of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts. Facilities

The facilities at the University of Puerto Rico include several libraries, including the General Library and the Agricultural Sciences Library, which offer a wide range of print and digital resources for students. Acceptance Rate

The University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez acceptance rate is 54%. At this institution, admissions officials prioritise a student's GPA as a critical academic criterion, while high school class rank and letters of recommendation hold no weight in the admissions process.

 

In the academic year of 2022 - 2023, the university accepted 54.35% of students. Of the 4,322 total applicants, 2,278 were admitted including 1,209 men and 1,069 women. 70.97% of those accepted actually enrolled, composed of 933 enrolled male and 734 enrolled female students. So while more men applied and were accepted, ultimately more women chose to attend the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez last year.
