About
The University of Mount Union is a private university located in Alliance, Ohio. The university was associated with the Methodist Church until the spring of 2019. It was established in 1846. Orville Nelson Hartshorn established Mount Union in 1846 with the goal of creating a place where men and women could be educated with equal opportunity, science would be taught alongside the humanities, and there would be no distinction due to race, colour, or sex. Around 1911, Scio College in Scio united with Mount Union, abandoning its Scio campus and relocating its staff there. The University of Mount Union replaced Mount Union College as of August 1st, 2010.
