About

The University of Mississippi, also known as Ole Miss, is a public research university located in Oxford, Mississippi. It was founded in 1848 and is the largest university in the state of Mississippi. The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

On February 24, 1844, the Mississippi Legislature established the University of Mississippi. Architects chose a secluded, rural location in Oxford to foster academic studies.
