Philosophy enables students at all levels to think deeply and critically about some of the most fundamental questions of human life. The department's courses engage with the works of great thinkers in the traditions of Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia. With a particular strength in interdisciplinary study, Philosophy at the University of Louisville is a keystone that unifies a broad undergraduate education and prepares graduates for a changing world ahead. Philosophy also houses the minor in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) and the Ethics Certificate, as well as the graduate MA in Applied Philosophy and graduate certificates in Health Care Ethics and Diversity Literacy.
