Program Overview

The Ph.D. program emphasizes original and scholarly research in a variety of subject areas within chemical engineering. Throughout their tenure of study, students work on research which culminates in their preparation of a written thesis dissertation and, finally, an oral presentation to the faculty. Many students conduct interdisciplinary research with chemical engineering faculty through the University’s research centers of excellence.

- Must hold a B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited college or university.
- International applicants must earn a minimum score of 79 (Internet-based test iBT, or iBT Home Edition, or iBT Paper Edition) or higher on the TOEFL test (TOEFL Essentials is not accepted). A minimum score of 6.5 or higher is required on the IELTS Academic test (IELTS General Training and IELTS Indicator are not accepted). A minimum score of 53 or higher is required on the PTE Academic or PTE Academic Online test. A minimum score of 100 or higher is required on the Duolingo test.
