About

The University of Notre Dame was established in November 1842 by Rev. Edward F. Sorin, C.S.C., a priest of the Congregation of Holy Cross, a French missionary organisation. It is adjacent to South Bend, Indiana, the heart of a metropolitan region. Notre Dame has been accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission. The university is a member of the ACCU, NAICU, the Universities of Research Association, and the 568 Group. The institution has approximately 12,000 students and around 1,300 faculty members.
