The University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) was founded in 1966 and is located in Baltimore, Maryland. This 56-year-old institution was the first public college or university in Maryland to accept students of all races when it was founded as a part of the University System of Maryland in 1966. A 71-acre development on the campus known as the Research and Technology Park has technology, bioscience, and research businesses, many of which collaborate with the university.
