About

The University at Albany is a public research university with campuses in Albany, Rensselaer, and Guilderland generally referred to as the University at Albany, UAlbany, or SUNY Albany. One of the four "university centres" of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, it was established in 1844. More than 50 undergraduate majors and nearly 120 master's degrees, including those in the schools of business and education, are available at the university. Numerous graduate programs at UAlbany are well regarded, such as the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy's specialisations in criminal justice, social work, and other fields.

The Roman goddess of knowledge Minerva has served as the school's mascot ever since the institution's founding. The school's seal features Minerva, and a 7-foot plaster statue of her has remained on campus for more than a century. There are new and emerging academic options available at the institution in the areas of public policy, national security, globalisation, documentary studies, biotechnology, and informatics. When it comes to the University at Albany facilities; there is something for everyone at the university. The university has campus accommodation facilities for students. There are eight three-story halls and a 23-story tower in each of the Uptown Campus's four residence quads, which can accommodate about 1,200 students. Every quad has lounges and recreational spaces, and three of the quads include food options. Apartment-style living is available nearby at Freedom Apartments, and 1,200 students can live in single rooms at Empire Commons. Another 500 apartment-style beds are available at Liberty Terrace, a residential community with an award-winning architectural design. On Alumni Quad, which is close to the Downtown Campus, housing is additionally offered.

The University Library, which is situated on the western side of the academic podium, offers collections in addition to reference services, computer stations, study areas, classes in information literacy, and much more.
