The College of Saint Rose is a private university of higher learning located in Albany, New York. It began as a women's institution in 1920 and was established by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. In 1969, it fully transitioned to co-ed status; the next year, it welcomed laypeople to its board and changed its status to that of an independent institution supported by the sisters. The university is situated in Albany's Pine Hills district and it also participates in the NCAA's Division II.
