Located in Missouri, Saint Louis University (SLU) is a private Jesuit research institution. It has campuses in Madrid, Spain, and the main campus in St. Louis, Missouri, in the United States. It is the second-oldest Jesuit university in the United States and the oldest university west of the Mississippi River, having been founded in 1818 by Louis William Valentine DuBourg. It is one of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and University's 27 member institutions. The North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools has granted the university accreditation.
