Undergraduate admission is based on high school grades, academic program, and SAT or ACT scores. Successful candidates have at least a B+ average in a well-rounded program of study that includes academic course work in math (3 years), English (4 years), lab science (2 years), social studies (4 years), and foreign language (3 years). New York State GED recipients may apply to Queens College if they earn a score of 3500 or better on the equivalency exam and corresponding high school units. Applicants who are not native English speakers should submit their scores on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). English requirement: a minimum TOEFL of 500.

More specifically, students develop the critical thinking, visual analysis and writing skills necessary for today’s job market and our contemporary image‐saturated culture. A degree in art history prepares students for a variety of career options. Art History is the foundation for: teaching of the arts in K‐12 schools; local, state and federal arts administration; public and private art and cultural museums; libraries and community centers; publishing and journalism in the arts; and art conservation and historic building preservation. Art History prepares students for careers in architecture, landscape architecture, and advertising.
