Parsons School of Design, known colloquially as Parsons, is a private art and design college located in the neighbourhood of New York City. The New School is a private research university founded in 1919 as The New School for Social Research and later renamed The New School University. However, the institute has been known as The New School since 2006, with five colleges under its umbrella: Parsons School of Design, College of Performing Arts, Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, Schools of Public Engagement, and New School for Social Research. For years, Parsons School of Design, one of the university's six schools, has been ranked as one of the top design schools in the world. It has over 10,000 students, including 6,800 undergraduates, 3138 graduate students, and 212 doctoral students.
