About
Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU) is a private Catholic graduate school in Belmont, California. It is the third oldest college in California and the first college in the state to grant a baccalaureate degree to women. NDNU is organized into three schools: the School of Business and Management, the School of Education, and the School of Psychology.
This major university was founded in 1851 by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur as the Academy of Notre Dame, a ten-acre school in San Jose, California. In 1868, it was chartered as the College of Notre Dame and became the first college in California to grant baccalaureate degrees to women. Additionally, the college moved to Belmont in 1923.
The School of Business and Management offers undergraduate degrees in accounting, business administration, and communication during the day, as well as minors in accounting, communication and business administration. Evening undergraduate degrees are offered in business administration and human services. Graduate degrees are offered in master of business administration and master of public administration. Online programmes are offered in criminal justice, master of business administration and master of public administration.
The School of Education and Psychology offers undergraduate degrees in liberal studies, biological sciences teacher preparation and blended liberal studies credentials. Continuing education degrees are offered in clinical psychology and art therapy. Graduate programmes include a master of arts in education, school administration, special education, art therapy, marriage and family therapy and a master of science in clinical psychology.

Notre Dame de Namur's (NDNU) acceptance rate is 13%, but early-action applicants have a 20.7% chance of being accepted. Half of the admitted students who submitted test scores scored between 1420 and 1550 on the SAT or 32 and 35 on the ACT. However, one-quarter of admitted students scored above these ranges and one-quarter scored below. The application deadline is January 1st.
