Monmouth University is a private university located in West Long Branch, New Jersey and has been serving students since 1933. The university is home to over 6,000 students, including 4,450 undergraduates and 1,500 graduates. Monmouth's 320 full-time faculty members are highly qualified with 80% holding PhDs. International students from 36 states and 34 countries come to this university to pursue their education. 

 

Monmouth University was founded in 1933 as Monmouth Junior College, a two-year college under Dean Edward G. Schlaefer. It was created in New Jersey during the Great Depression to provide affordable higher education to high school graduates in Monmouth County who could not afford to go away to college. The university's founders wanted to provide an opportunity for higher education to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. The junior college started out small, but it eventually grew into the university it is today.

 

MU offers admissions to around 60 bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programmes across its 7 schools. The university's business school is accredited by the AACSB and its Software Engineering programme is the only ABET-accredited course in New Jersey. Monmouth also has six centres of distinction.

Acceptance Rate 

Monmouth University's acceptance rate is 91%. Students who apply for early admission have a 97.8% chance of being accepted. In other words, it is a relatively easy school to get into, but students who apply for early admission have a much better chance of being accepted. Test scores are not required, but students who do submit them should aim for an SAT score between 1110 and 1300 or an ACT score between 22 and 30. The application deadline is March 1, so students should apply early to maximise their chances of acceptance.

Monmouth University has maintained a higher acceptance rate yearly for the past three years. However, in 2023, it became easier to gain admission compared to 2022. This was because the university had an acceptance rate of 90.92%, surpassing the average of 78.57% over the past nine years.
