About

Marist College is a private liberal arts college located in Poughkeepsie, New York, USA. It was founded in 1929 and has grown into a comprehensive institution with over 6,500 undergraduate and graduate students from all over the world. A brief history of the school tells us that in 1905, members of the order arrived in the Mid-Hudson Valley to establish the first Marist House of Studies in the United States. It was started immediately north of Poughkeepsie, on the east bank of the Hudson River. 

 

The college offers a wide range of majors and programmes in fields such as business, communication and media, education, science and technology, social and behavioural sciences, and the arts. The college also offers a number of pre-professional programs in fields such as law, medicine, and engineering. There are 47 bachelor's programmes, 11 master’s programmes and 1 doctoral programme at the college. These programmes are divided between the six undergraduate schools and the School of Global and Professional Programmes. The undergraduate schools are:

The 180-acre main campus is close to the Hudson River Valley and a fantastic place to live and learn. Additionally, it owns the 60-acre Payne Estate, which is located on the Hudson River's west bank. The Payne Estate in New York offers programmes aimed at teaching and preparing people for professions in industry, government, and charity organisations. The college has state-of-the-art facilities, including a new science and allied health building, a performing arts centre, and a student centre with a variety of amenities. 

 

Dining Facilities - Students and visitors to the campus can choose from a wide variety of eating alternatives. Eating establishments can be found all across the main and east side campuses, in addition to the Main Dining Hall, which is housed in the Murray Student Centre. There are also McCormick Hall's North End Dining, Murray Student Centre's Cabaret, Upper West Cedar's Marketplace, and McCann Centre's McCann Cafe.

 

On-campus Residence - Over 3,300 undergraduate students can live at Marist College in dorms, apartments, suites, and townhouse-style communities. The students are transferred into autonomous accommodations, such as townhouses and apartments, as they progress from the freshman to the senior year. This aids the student in becoming more autonomous and ready for the outside world. They can use Champagnat Hall, Leo Hall, Marian Hall, Mid Rise Hall, and Sheahan Hall during their first year. The Foy Townhouses, Fulton Street Townhouses, New Townhouses, Lower West Cedar Street Townhouses, Mid Rise Hall, and Upper West Cedar Street Townhouses are all accessible to sophomores.

Acceptance Rate

Marist College acceptance rate is 63% for international students in 2024. It is among the top 245 of the most difficult universities to get into in the United States.
