About

Kansas State University, sometimes known as KSU, Kansas State, or K-State University, is located in Manhattan, Kansas, in the United States. It was the first public university in Kansas when it began operations as the state's land-grant college in 1863. There are satellite campuses in Salina and Olathe. The College of Technology and Aviation is located on the Salina Aerospace and Technology Campus. Graduate study in research bioenergy, animal health, plant science, and food safety and security is a focus of the Olathe Innovation Campus. Due to its proximity to Fort Riley, a sizable Army installation, the university participates in numerous military-related projects. The university's newest campus is the Olathe campus, which opened in 2011. The Kansas Bioscience Park is where this campus is situated. Founded in 2009, the Polytechnic campus is a tiny college in Salina, Kansas.

Facilities

In order to promote student involvement outside of the classroom, there are more than 500 student-run clubs and groups. Students are actively involved in professional and academic clubs, honorary groups, multicultural clubs, art and culture, religion, and spirit organizations. For sports, there are 30 club teams. Each year, 60 individuals and sports teams participate in intramural sports programs. Additionally, K-State Athletics is the most important student organization in the country. The university's recreation complex has gyms, indoor tracks for running, rock climbing walls, and other Kansas State University facilities.

 

Clubs & Media:

The Student Governing Association, which is made up of elected and appointed officials, is the largest group of student leaders. The executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the Student Governing Association are modeled after those of the United States government. The second-largest group of student leaders working to improve the on-campus living conditions for students living in residence halls near campus is the Association of Residence Halls (KSUARH). The Kansas State Collegian, the Royal Purple Yearbook, KKSU-LD "Channel 8," KSDB-FM "Wildcat 91.9," "Purple Power Hour," "Manhattan Matters," and "Wildcat Watch" are examples of student media.

 

Sports:

At Kansas State, intercollegiate sports were first played in the 1890s. The school's athletic teams compete in NCAA Division I and the Big 12 Conference under the moniker Wildcats. Along with Syracuse and Harvard, Kansas State is one of a very select few colleges with only one official color—Royal Purple. Football, basketball, cross country, track, baseball, golf, tennis, rowing, women's soccer, and volleyball are among the sports that the school sponsors.
