Jacksonville State University is a private university of higher learning located in Jacksonville, Florida. Its origins date back to 1934 when it was established as a two-year college under the name Jacksonville Junior College. It later expanded on to include four-year degree programmes, leading to its evolution into Jacksonville University. The university holds official accreditation from both the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. 

 

The university has over 100 majors and minors. These courses are offered in disciplines like Business, Marine Science, Engineering, Physics and Nursing, alongside specialised fields such as Aviation, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Film, Animation and Sports Business. JSU draws a diverse student body of 2,300 from 40 states within the U.S. and also welcomes students from approximately 52 different countries worldwide.

Students operate a student newspaper, oversee JU108, a campus radio station and curate The Aquarian, a literary and arts magazine. Additionally, there is a student-managed broadcasting station known as Dolphin Channel.
