About

Hofstra University is a private institution located in Hempstead, New York. It is the biggest private institution on Long Island. Nassau College - Hofstra Memorial of New York University was the name under which Hofstra was founded in 1935 as a branch of New York University (NYU). It is a vibrant, varied community where you can follow your passions while serving a larger goal. The programs are designed to allow students to search, sculpt, and discover their own educational and professional paths, and the courses are small.

The Long Island, New York, campus of Hofstra places students in a prime location for exploring the city's attractions and finding internships. In addition to the two conventional semesters, the university also provides classes in January and throughout a number of summer sessions. Traditional dorms and themed living communities, which bring together students based on shared interests like performing arts and active living, are two possibilities for on-campus housing. Over 200 student organisations exist, with about 20 of them being fraternities and sororities. Students can participate in club sports like roller hockey and ultimate frisbee in addition to seeing the Hofstra Pride sports teams compete in the NCAA Division I Colonial Athletic Association. It is also worth noting that Hofstra University's acceptance rate stands at 69.1% making it a moderately competitive university to get into.

Live, study, and play on a suburban campus with ivy-covered buildings and planted quads that are only a short train ride from New York City and its myriad cultural, recreational, and internship options. Alan Colmes, former co-host of "Hannity and Colmes" on Fox News Channel, and actor Tom McGowan are notable Hofstra University graduates.
