Overview

About

Golden Gate University (GGU), founded in 1901, emphases on training adults and professionals at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in a variety of fields, including law, business, psychology, marketing, finance, human resource management, and others. Many of its courses are also offered as online degree programmes. It is California's fourth-oldest private university. The university was originally known as YMCA Evening College, a name it retained until 1923, at which point it adopted its present name. It has received accreditation from the American Bar Association, California State Bar, Wasc Senior Colleges and Universities Commission, and the American Association of Law Schools (AALS). In 1996, it was one of the first universities to launch programmes for web-based learning.

Golden Gate University has three campuses: its main one in San Francisco, one each in Silicon Valley and Seattle. The San Francisco campus is conveniently situated in the city's financial district. In particular, using public transportation is simple. The Seattle campus, which opened its doors in 1974, provides evening classes including, among others, Graduate Certificates in Taxation and a Master of Science in Taxation. Students can finish their course by attending in-person classes on Saturdays and weeknights at the Silicon Valley campus, a local learning facility. Courses for the Executive MPA and MS in Human Resource Management can be done using this technique.
