About

Founded in the year 1965, Florida International University is Miami's public research university, providing bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees both on campus and completely online. Florida International University is located in the tropical city of Miami and has two campuses: the Modesto A. Maidique campus in west Miami-Dade county and the Biscayne Bay campus in North Miami. The university has 68 undergraduate and 122 graduate programmes spread over 10 colleges. Students can major in a variety of subjects, including -

The university prioritises research as an important component of the university's mission. It is a solutions centre for the world's most serious concerns and a Carnegie Foundation R1 top-tier institution. The research opportunities may take students from the top of the world to the bottom of the ocean, thanks to a spirit of discovery, a passion for innovation, and the backing of more than $100 million in funding. The Discovery Lab at the Knight Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences and the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine are just two of many schools, and centres that actively increase the university's ability to establish new standards through research efforts.

If students want to finish their degrees but are unable to commute to campus, the institution provides a solution in the form of online learning. They can enrol as full-time or part-time students online. If an international student has a valid F-1 visa and has completed two semesters of full-time admissions prior to the start date of Optional Practical Training (OPT), they can enjoy the benefits of OPT, which provides students with a one-year work permit to begin working with an employer immediately after graduation. If a student is enrolled in a STEM programme, they may be eligible for a two-year OPT work visa following graduation.
