Elms College, also known as The College of Our Lady of the Elms, is a privately operated Roman Catholic institution situated in the city of Chicopee, Massachusetts. Founded on a strong religious foundation, the college offers a diverse range of academic programmes and has a welcoming and inclusive campus community. Elms College’s acceptance rate stands at 67.5% in various fields of study. 

 

In response to the demands of the local community, the college expanded its academic offerings during the 1960s and 1970s to include undergraduate programmes in nursing, business management, and communication sciences and disorders. In the late 1980s, the college introduced additional programmes such as Weekend College, paralegal studies, legal studies, and a Master of Arts degree programme in teaching. These strategic developments aim to address the evolving educational needs and career aspirations of students, providing them with a comprehensive and diverse array of educational opportunities. 

 

Elms College caters to 814 full-time undergraduate students, offering an extensive selection of thirty-three academic majors. The college maintains a dedicated faculty comprising 67 full-time members who contribute to a thriving academic environment. Academically, the college is organised into specialised divisions, including the division of business, the division of communication sciences and disorders, the division of education, the division of humanities and fine arts, the division of natural sciences, mathematics, and technology, as well as the division of social sciences.

 

In 2013, a significant milestone was achieved when the division of nursing transitioned into the school of nursing, signifying its growth and enhanced focus within the college's academic framework. This move further strengthened the nursing programme's reputation and commitment to excellence in nursing education.
