When it comes to the history of Edgewood College, In 1855, Mr Ashmead acquired the Edgewood College property from Governor Leonard J. Farwell. Later, Samuel Marshall diligently expanded the land by planting trees, creating formal gardens, and installing climbing grapevines on trellises. In 1873, Governor Cadwallader Washburn purchased Edgewood Villa, transforming it into his own residence. Eventually, recognizing its potential for education, he generously donated the property to the Dominican Sisters, who have since utilised it for educational purposes.
