The graduate school offers a number of master's and doctoral degree programs. Duke has become a major academic and research institution since its beginnings as Brown's Schoolhouse. The Levine Science Research Center at Duke University is the largest single-site interdisciplinary research facility of any American university. In 2014, Duke expanded its reach eastward by founding Duke Kunshan University in China, which combines a liberal arts curriculum in the United States with Chinese traditions.
