About
Creighton University is a private, Jesuit university located in Omaha, Nebraska. It was founded in 1878 by the Society of Jesus and is named after Edward Creighton, a prominent Omaha businessman who provided the land and funds for the school's construction.
On September 2, 1878, Creighton was inaugurated as a donation from Mary Lucretia Creighton, who indicated in her deed that a school is put in place in remembrance of her spouse, notable Omaha businessman Edward Creighton. John A. Creighton, Edward's brother, is given credit for cultivating and maintaining the university's fast development and charitable giving. Creighton Preparatory Schools and Creighton University were formed from the college in 1958.

There are three types of on-campus residence halls: suite-style, community, and apartment. Four halls serve as freshman and sophomore residences; one is for upperclassmen. The suite-style residence halls are designed for students. Each suite has two or three rooms plus a shared bathroom.
