Christopher Newport University (CNU) is a public liberal arts university located in Newport News, Virginia. Established in 1960 as Christopher Newport College, it was originally a two-year branch of the College of William and Mary. However, in 1977, it became an independent four-year institution and was renamed Christopher Newport University.
