California State University, Sacramento (also known as Sac State) is a public university located in Sacramento, California. It was founded in 1947 as Sacramento State College and became part of the California State University system in 1960. Sac State is known for its diverse student body, with over 31,000 students enrolled from various backgrounds and cultures. The main campus covers 305 acres in Sacramento and is next to U.S. Highway 50. It is also the sixth-largest of California's 23 public institutions. The campus is bounded to the east by the American River, to the west by Union Pacific Railroad tracks, and to the south by Folsom Boulevard. Moreover, the University Arboretum and residence halls occupy the north end of campus.

  • The Ernest E. Tschannen Science Complex opened in the fall of 2019. It is a cutting-edge structure featuring a 2,500-square-foot planetarium and an open-roof observatory that is open to students and the general public.

 

  •  In 2019, the University Union expanded by 72,500 square feet. The refurbishment provides casual recreation space, student offices, campus group meeting rooms, special-event space, casual seating, and a coffee shop to serve the rising school population.

 

  • The Riverview hall is a residential hall, which opened in August 2017. It houses 416 first- and second-year students. It was designed to LEED Gold standards.

 

On-campus housing - There are 7 Residence halls houses which house around 2100+ individuals and offer a variety of living options such as single and double rooms, as well as apartment-style suites.
