Bryn Mawr College is a women's liberal arts college located in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, United States. The graduate school is co-educational. Founded in 1885, it is one of the Seven Sisters colleges, a group of historically women's liberal arts colleges in the Northeastern United States. The academic year 2021 saw a total enrollment of 1,780 students who were offered an acceptance rate of 39% which is considered selective to an extent. 

 

Bryn mawr literally translates to "big hill" in Welsh. It was one of the earliest colleges in the United States to grant women academic degrees, including doctorates. Eight graduate students and 36 female undergraduates made up the initial batch. The college is named after the town of the same name where the campus is also located. 

 

Bryn Mawr College offers undergraduate degrees in a wide range of disciplines, including the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics. The college is known for its strong liberal arts education, its commitment to diversity and inclusivity, and its active student community. In addition to its undergraduate program, Bryn Mawr College also offers graduate degrees in several fields, including social work, theater, and gender and sexuality studies. Facilities

The 135-acre Bryn Mawr College’s vast campus is situated in a suburb about 11 miles west of Philadelphia and consists of 40 magnificent stone structures. Numerous varieties of trees are scattered around the 135-acre campus. For tourists, staff, instructors, and students to experience the tranquil beauty of nature there are many tree tours organised by the college’s student committees. Apart from this, there are other comfortable facilities offered:

 

Accommodation - Students who avail of on-campus accommodation facilities, especially first-year students, are expected to take part in all college events and purchase a meal plan for the entire four years. Batten House, Brecon Hall, Denbigh Hall, Enid Cook'31 Center, Erdman Hall, Merion Hall, New Dorm Hall, Pembroke Hall, Radnor Hall, Rhoads Hall, and Rockefeller Hall are just a few of the several historic and contemporary residence halls options available on campus. During the breaks, students have the option of staying in their dorms. However, there won't be any on-campus amenities like meals, transportation, or medical care.

 

Library - The College's major library for the humanities and social sciences is Canaday Library. It contains collections for the humanities and social sciences, Special Collections, the College Archives, computer laboratories, the Writing Center, the Lusty Cup Cafe, and many staff members' offices. This library has an interactive classroom called Canaday 315. Moreover, there are rotating exhibits on the first, second and A floors. The library also provides dining facilities called The Lusty Cafe. Other than this library, there are also two other libraries called Carpenter and Collier. 

 

Dining Facilities - The Cafeteria at the college provides delicious and wholesome food to all students, faculty and staff. Their menus are always inclusive of vegetarian, vegan and halal options. They provide breakfast, lunch and dinner options at the cafeteria. Moreover, there is also a student employment program encouraging them to use their summer or winter breaks in productive ways.
