About

Benedictine University is a private Catholic university located in Lisle, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. The university was founded in 1887 as St. Procopius College by the Benedictine monks of St. Procopius Abbey. In 1971, the institution came to be known as the Illinois Benedictine College, and in 1996, it adopted its current name, Benedictine University. There are more than 2000 students enrolled here, with an acceptance rate of 42%. 

 

It offers undergraduate and graduate degree programmes in a variety of fields, including business, education, health sciences, liberal arts, and science. There are 59 undergraduate majors and 20 undergraduate minors along with 23 graduate programmes and 4 doctoral degrees. The university also offers online degree programmes and has satellite campuses in Mesa, Arizona, and Springfield, Illinois. Benedictine University has campuses in Lisle, Mesa, various other locations throughout Illinois, three locations in China, and two locations in Vietnam through their partner universities. The university is situated near Lisle, Illinois, and has a 108-acre timber campus that enables students to experience tranquil city life. The university's main campus in Lisle has 150 and 80-seat seminar rooms, 30-seat classrooms, computer rooms, auditoriums, a sports complex, state-of-the-art buildings, and conference rooms. Library - The university library actively supports the university's academic mission by carefully selecting, curating, creating, conserving, and making digital and physical resources available at all times, as well as by providing the best in-person and virtual support and services to all of their regional and global Library constituents. On-campus Residence - The Lisle campus has a number of residence halls in which students can opt to live, some of them are Jaegar Hall which is an all-female residence hall and accommodates 145 students, Ondrak Hall is an all-male residence and accommodates 190 students, and lastly, they have Founders’ Woods Apartments which is a co-ed community with a capacity of 275 students. 

 

Dining facilities - The Krasa Centre is a 24/7 facility on campus, some of the many areas in this building include Benny's dining hall. The Coal Ben is an on-campus eatery again with a pub-like setting and can accommodate more than 100 students, staff and faculty. The university also has a Starbucks Coffee house on the 2nd floor of the Daniel L Goodwin business building. The dining programme here is dietary specific and lets students easily advocate for themself.
