About

Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is a private medical school located in Houston, Texas. It was established in 1900 and is affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas. BCM is one of the oldest medical schools in Texas and has a long history of excellence in education, research, and patient care.

 

Baylor has a total enrollment of 1,607 students. The full time enrollment is 1,594 students and the part time enrollment is 13. The College also has a large and well-respected faculty, many of whom are leaders in their fields and have made significant contributions to the advancement of medical knowledge. BCM's research enterprise is also one of the most comprehensive in the country and receives significant funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other agencies. 

 

Preclinical basic sciences take up 1.5 years of the MD programme, which is then followed by 2.5 years of clinical instruction. It is one of the only medical schools in the US with a preclinical programme that is accelerated to 1.5 years.  

 

Four programmes offered by Baylor allow medical students to complete a second degree in addition to their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. 

  • MD/PhD with the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences
  • MD/MPH with the UTHealth School of Public Health
  • MD/MBA with the Rice University Jesse H. Jones School of Business
  • MD/JD with the University of Houston Law Center

Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) offers a variety of housing options for students. BCM has several apartment complexes that are owned or affiliated with the college and are available to students. These apartments are located in close proximity to the BCM campus and offer amenities such as swimming pools, fitness centers, and study rooms. Library Facilities

The library at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is known as the TMC Library. The TMC Library is a vital resource for the students, faculty, and staff of BCM, as well as for researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals from the Texas Medical Center and beyond. The TMC Library's collection includes more than 50,000 e-journals, 500,000 e-books, and tens of thousands of print volumes. Baylor College of Medicine Entry Requirements
