About

Angelo State University is a public university located in San Angelo, Texas, and it was founded in 1928. Its initial name was San Angelo College and for many years, the college was located on North Oakes Street, close to the city's business district. The first board of trustees was chosen by Tom Green County voters in 1945, who also established a county junior college district. The first building on the current university site was built in 1947. In 1967, when it was granted university status, it conferred its first baccalaureate degrees. In 1969, the same year it adopted its current name and conferred its first graduate degrees. 

 

 Students at Angelo State attend the university from all around Texas, as well as from 46 other states and 22 other countries. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has granted accreditation to the university. The Texas Tech University System's second-largest campus is also located at this university.
