About
Anderson University is a private Christian university in Anderson, South Carolina. The university offers more than 100 fields of study in Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees. The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has accredited Anderson and given its affiliation with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. The university also competes in athletics at the NCAA Division II level and is a South Atlantic Conference participant. Johnson University, which was founded in 1848 by W. B. Johnson, was replaced in 1911 by Anderson College. Up until 1931, the university was a female-only college. Then in 2006, it changed its name to its current title and now has eleven different colleges and institutions in it.
The majority of the structures on the main campus were constructed throughout the 20th century in the Georgian architectural style and are made of red brick. When Anderson University was established in 1911, the first structures on the campus were the Merritt Administration Building, Denmark Hall, and Pratt Hall. Watkins Hall, located in the centre of campus, is one of the primary instructional buildings.
