About

Abilene Christian University is a private university that was founded in 1906 as the Childers Classical Institute. The Council for Christian Universities and Colleges and the National Association of Independent Universities and Colleges are both affiliated with the university. The institution has been managed by the Board of Trustees since its inception. The university obtained its first accreditation in 1951.

 

The Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology has accredited the university's engineering programme. In 1976, the university was granted university status. The university is well-known for hosting a live broadcast of NPR's long-running radio show A Prairie Home Companion. The university expanded rapidly over the years, with an increasing number of students.

 

The university's academic curriculum includes a wide range of subjects. Experienced faculty members instruct the students. Many industry professionals attend interactive sessions, guest lectures, and practical workshops at the university. The institute's campus encompasses an area of 308 acres. There is a nursing department, an auditorium, a Church, three halls, an event hall, and a library with thousands of journals, books, magazines, and research documents.
