Overview

About

Located in Falmer, East Sussex, England is the University of Sussex a public research university. The university was founded in the year 1959 as a way to bring an educational institute into the city of Sussex. The initial batch of the university saw only 52 students who started to increase over time. The university also emphasised cross-disciplinary education, so an art student would know things in science and vice versa.

The student union does an excellent job at inclusion and community establishment. The student union used to organize concerts of Rock and Roll legends and hence the university was dubbed Rock and Roll Centre. Now there are many organisations and clubs the union associates with and are open to students.

Some big personalities are associated with the university as part of their alumni such as comedian Frankie Boyle, film composer/music arranger/conductor John Altman, and Genesis keyboard player Tony Banks. The university and the alumni network have a strong bond with benefits on both sides. Involvement, rewards and exposure for the alumni and strengthening future graduate connections for the university. The university actively takes part in celebrating cultures and traditions, so students will find people doused in colours for Holi and students in green outfits for St.Patricks Day. A day won’t pass by when Sussex is filled with great energy and a vibe from the students and faculty.
