Program Overview

The Master in Forensic Science degree is a four year undergraduate degree where the final year is studied completely at Masters level. This course gives a broad education in the core areas of Forensic Science. It introduces students to the latest developments in the Forensic Science and investigation and develops key practical and research skills.

Once a thorough education in a broad range of Forensic Science has been accomplished this course allows you to study forensic science in more depth by specialising in areas such as identification of human remains or forensic mark analysis.

Research projects are linked to active research within the University. Employment is available in numerous forensic companies, the police, scene of crime units and analytical companies. This Masters course can lead to careers in research and further study at PhD level.

Entry Requirement
For programmes that require a UK Second Class Honours Second Division (2:2), a minimum score of 55% is required.
72% in Year 12 English (Second year marks): From the following boards: Board of Intermediate Education (Andhra Pradesh), Bihar Board, Board, Jharkhand Board, Himachal Board, Jammu & Kashmir Board, Gujarat Board and Telangana Board.
70% in Year 12 English: From the following boards: CBSE, AISSCE, Maharashtra Board, West Bengal Board, Kerala Board, Karnataka Board, Madhya Pradesh Board, Rajasthan Board and other Boards.

Employment opportunities exist for you with the Forensic Science Sector both with independent providers of forensic analysis and police scientific work, insurance companies, legal firms and independent forensic laboratories.
Examples of possible future careers include scene of crime work, quality assurance in food and pharmaceutical manufacturing, trading standards, public and industrial health and safety, and accident investigation.
You could also train to become a science teacher or continue your studies as a postgraduate either on a Masters course or PhD.
Some of our graduates are working for the Forensic Science Service, LGC Forensics and Key Forensics as forensic scientists.
Others are working for the West Midlands Police, West Mercia Police, Staffordshire Police and the Leicestershire Constabulary as crime scene investigators, fingerprint and footwear analysts, criminal intelligence analysts and police officers.
