Program structure

Core modules

Core modules are taken by all students on the course. They give you a solid grounding in your chosen subject and prepare you to explore the topics that interest you most.

Autumn teaching

• Developmental Models, Psychopathology and Healthcare Legislation for Children and Young People

• Fundamentals of Therapeutic Interaction with Children and Young People

Spring teaching

• Therapeutic Engagement, Assessment and Intervention with Children and Young People

Spring and summer teaching

• CBT Informed Interventions for Children and Young people

Degree requirements    

Bachelors degree with a minimum overall mark of at least 50-65% depending on your university.

Subject-specific requirements    

Your qualification can be in any subject. No prior knowledge or experience in mental health is required. You should demonstrate an interest and desire to work with children and young people with mental health difficulties. You must also show an interest in developing education in practice, therapy and skills fundamental to mental health care with children and young people. You may also be considered for the course if you have other professional qualifications or experience of equivalent standing.

English language requirements

IELTS (Academic)

High level (6.5 overall, including at least 6.0 in each component).

• Home students: £7,500 per year for full-time students

• Channel Islands and Isle of Man students: £7,500 per year for full-time students

• International students: £11,750 per year for full-time students

On this course, you’ll gain the right balance of knowledge, skills and clinical experience to secure employment within the mental health field.

As a graduate, you’ll be well qualified to apply for children’s wellbeing practitioner posts within the NHS.

We have strong links with child and adolescent mental health services providers across the South of England and are regularly approached to promote job opportunities to our students.
