Year 1
Introduction to Financial Accounting (Mandatory)
The purpose of this module is to provide an introductory knowledge of financial accounting concepts and principles as applied in small and medium size entities (SMEs). It aims to develop the ability to identify, evaluate, present, and interpret financial information. This module provides a solid foundation upon which the more advanced modules of financial accounting are built.
Introduction to Management Accounting (Requisite)
The purpose of this module is to provide an introductory knowledge of management accounting concepts and principles as applied in small and medium size entities (SMEs). It aims to develop the ability to identify, evaluate, present, and interpret management accounting information, and understand how this contributes to effective management decision making. This module provides a solid foundation upon which the more advanced modules of management accounting are built.
Delivering Successful Projects (Requisite)
Project management is vital to the success of organisations working in an environment of ever-increasing complexity, and with rapid technological advancements. You will develop an understanding of the theoretical principles and practical techniques for managing projects, and includes project definition, initiation, planning, execution, control and closure.
Business and Economics (Requisite)
Key economic principles impact how all businesses function. You will be introduced to core concepts in both microeconomics (consumers, firms and markets) and macroeconomics (economic systems and policy) and encourages you to consider how they affect different types of business
Management and Managing: An Introduction (Requisite)
You will develop an understanding of the nature, processes and origins of 'management'. It also helps you develop the skill-set necessary for success in the context of higher education, and more broadly within the graduate job market.
Understanding the Entrepreneurial Sprit (Requisite)
This module gives students the understanding of Entrepreneurship and the characteristics.
Understanding the Entrepreneurial Spirit (Optional)
This module recognises the importance of entrepreneurship to stimulating and sustaining economic growth. You will examine what makes for a successful entrepreneur and how ideas can be evaluated and then turned into successful businesses. This will include business planning, financing and risk assessment.
Introduction to Marketing (Optional)
Marketing is an essential business activity. You will discover basic marketing principles and, later in the course, you will build on this when studying optional modules. You will explore the marketing mix and segmentation and apply this knowledge to the analysis of marketing activities.
Year 2
Financial Reporting and Analysis (Mandatory)
This module will develop the foundation knowledge and skills which have been covered in the Introduction to Financial Accounting module at Level 4, with particular emphasis on how various aspects of financial accounting relate to the business world. You will be required explain accounting and reporting concepts and ethical issues as applied to business scenarios.
Designing and Running a Research Project (Mandatory)
This module will provide insight into topics, methods and functions of business-related research projects. The module also helps you develop the academic skills required for your final year, particularly for the Extended Project or Enterprising Graduate modules.
Cost and Management Accounting (Requisite)
This module aims to develop intermediate knowledge and understanding of concepts and techniques used in costing and management accounting in relevant practical situations. It develops your ability to apply the principles of costing and management accounting in planning and control scenarios.
Financial Management (Requisite)
The module is designed to develop your knowledge and skills of financial management principles and their practical applications. The financial management knowledge and skills developed will be in relation to investment, financing and dividend policy decisions.
Auditing and Assurance (Requisite)
The objective of this module is to ensure that you will understand the audit and assurance process and the fundamental principles of ethics, which will enable them to contribute effectively to the assessment of internal controls and the gathering of evidence on an assurance engagement. This module aims to provide a solid foundation for the Advanced Audit and Assurance module at Level 6.
Principles of Taxation (Requisite)
This module looks at different aspects of personal income tax and business income tax for small and medium sized enterprises following the Finance Act 2019 applicable in the UK. This module covers theories, case studies, numeric calculation of tax and other forms of levies that would help you get a hands-on experience of an income tax and business tax specialist in the classroom setting.
Year 3
Extended Project (Mandatory)
The extended project provides you with the opportunity to work on a project of interest to you. The module is deliberately designed to be flexible and to offer you the option of undertaking a more formal piece of research; to work on a project suggested by your employer or another organization; or to undertake research into the feasibility of a business idea or in preparation of a business plan.

The Enterprising Graduate (Mandatory)
This module provides specific provision for you that wish to focus on entrepreneurship and the study of entrepreneurial practice. It also provides you with the chance to synthesise learning through supported study on a topic or idea of interest to them, supported by academics, enterprise professionals and SME owner/managers.
Corporate Financial Strategy (Mandatory)
This module gives you an appreciation of several financial issues and how they relate to the business world. Initially the module concentrates on the application of financial tools and techniques, before progressing to a more strategic perspective. It will encourage you to see the financial implications of the decision-making process.
Advanced Financial Accounting (Requisite)
This module extends the scope of the Financial Reporting and Analysis module at level 5 to cover more advanced topics in financial accounting like the preparation of consolidated financial statements and the principles adopted in accounting standards dealing with complex accounting areas. The module also aims at making you aware of developments in external reporting.
Advanced Auditing (Requisite)
The module builds on the knowledge gained in the Auditing and Assurance module at level 5 to provide a good grasp of the basics and principles. It develops an advanced practical knowledge of auditing with emphasis on the development of essential skills required by professional auditor.
Advanced Taxation (Requisite)
This module is designed to develop a thorough understanding of the UK corporate tax system. This module focuses mainly on the public limited company tax, implications of group companies, inherence tax and other aspects of corporate taxation based on the relevant Finance Act of the UK. This specialised module builds on the knowledge gained in Principles of Taxation in the second year.
