Program Overview

The PgCert in Interdisciplinary English Studies focuses on the representation, imaginary transformation and symbolisation of culture, mediated through language and literature.

This is achieved by drawing on the interdisciplinary strengths of the Department of Humanities, and the English Studies section within the school. The course will prepare you to think about the ways in which all aspects of culture depend on narrative, fiction and language. You can apply this to working in education, business, government or a third-sector organisation.

  • For entry to Strathclyde postgraduate programmes, we'd look for a first-class undergraduate degree (approx 60%) from a recognised Indian institution.
  • Although 60% is a general entry requirement we understand that the marking system in some states and national universities make it harder to achieve 60%, therefore we will accept 55% from University of Mumbai, University of Calcutta, University of Delhi etc.
  • Graduates from the IITs and IIMs will also be considered with marks in the region of 55%. If you wish to apply for a research degree you'd normally have to have a Masters degree and some experience of research work.
